Join Dancer and Choreographer Lindsey Jones for this unique opportunity to increase your skill and knowledge of Hip Hop taught in the context of team competition. Lindsey comes to this with a broad and impressive background in Hip Hop and team competition.
Lindsey's dance troupe Hip Hop Connxion was selected among hundreds of contenders to become a top 5 pick in the Chicago audition for Season 1 of MTV's America's Best Dance Crew and will be traveling the Hip Hop International World Championships in August. She is currently the director of the dance team for the Chicago Storm Professional Indoor Soccer Team (MISL), captain of Hip Hop Connxion Elite and works with the WNBA Chicago Sky. During college she was captain of her dance teams at both Bradley University and the University of Illinois-Chicago’s Nationally Ranked Dancing Flames. Lindsey has had the opportunity to open for CHRIS BROWN, the Sprite Liquid Remix tour feat. N.E.R.D, “Fox’s Thing in the Morning Show” and appearances on NBC and WGN.
Lindsay completed the course portion of the TDI judging program during the inaugural year and has extensive team competition experience. She and her Chicago Storm Dance Team were selected to teach TDI's Hip Hop Mini Sessions for students and fans at TDI's 2nd Annual State Championship.
There will be two class levels offered. Please see below for the descriptions:
- Beginning/Intermediate Hip Hop Class: Great for dancers new to the style, or those who want to explore the style more! Dancers will touch on several different hip hop styles, both old school and new school. Students will not only learn a fun, appropriate technical routine, but also about the history of hip hop and the culture itself.
- Intermediate/Advanced class: Intended for dancers who want to take their dancing to the next level. Dancers will learn a technical combination that focuses on some of the defining hip hop styles and moves. Students will learn the history of this dance style and even about the dancers that started it all!
SHOP Details
This workshop is tailored for students grades 5th - 12th looking to further their experience and knowledge of the world of Hip Hop Dance. It provides a look at Hip Hop through the eyes of a competitive dance team and offers not only choreography and skills training, but also information on the history and styles of this major dance category.
Each workshop is 1 1/2 hours, costs only $15.99 and will be offered during the TDI 3rd annual Fall Conference.
