TDI abides by the rules and regulations of the IHSA and NFHS and follows the
IHSA Spirit Rules
TDI is proud to offer Illinois’ only Dance and Flag Coach Certification Program. This program is a unique opportunity offered by TDI Academy and is available to any future, current, or retired coach that are members of the TDI Coaches Association. Through this program, you can become a Certified TDI Dance Coach or Flag Coach!
Come to the 5th Annual TDI Fall Conference to be held at St. Charles East High School, the weekend of September 10-12th, 2010! TDI’s Academy is preparing a full schedule of coaching courses and opportunities that will lead to completing the TDI certification program. In addition to coursework that fulfills TDI Coaches Certification requirements, we will also offer coursework that apply toward ASEP certification. TDI offers, and encourages ASEP certification for all new coaches and/or any coaches that coach in a school that requires ASEP certification.
TDI’s goal in offering and designing this comprehensive program is to elevate the importance of knowledgeable and well-trained coaches in Illinois! Please read through the new certification system laid out below.
Levels of Coach Certification
Basic Certified Coach
This basic level prepares you for competing within TDI
TDI Intermediate Certified Coach
TDI Intermediate Certified Coaches are coaches that are knowledgeable about TDI, TDI’s judging system and National/State/TDI Rules and Regulations. These are individuals who are either looking for a coaching position or are in their first two years of coaching a team.
TDI Advanced Certified Coach
TDI Certified Coaches are coaches that are knowledgeable about TDI, TDI’s judging system and National/State/TDI Spirit Rules and Regulations. These are individuals who have a minimum of 2 years of dance, drill, pom, flag, and and/or guard team coaching at the high school or youth level. These years do not have to be consecutive years or as a member of TDI.
TDI Master Coach
TDI Master Coaches are coaches that have an exemplary knowledge of TDI, TDI’s judging system and National/State/TDI Spirit Rules and Regulations as well as a commitment to continued professional development. These are individuals who have a minimum of 4 years of dance, drill, pom, flag, and/or guard team coaching at the high school or youth level. These years do not have to be consecutive years or as a member of TDI.
